AMTDA Cancels
'09 Las Vegas Show

According to a March 24th press release from AMTDA and SME, AMTDA has decided, once again, to cancel their inaugural trade show in Las Vegas. In 2007, AMTDA circulated materials announ-cing a Las Vegas Show to compete directly with AMMO Expo, but abandoned the effort. Now, AMTDA has cancelled their 2009 show in favor of a partnership with SME three years out in 2011. Their MTELV website now offers potential exhibitors contracts for 2011, but nothing for 2009.

When contacted by Ammo staff, the Las Vegas Convention Center claimed no knowledge of the 2011 show. LVCC staff said that before a new show could be scheduled, AMTDA would first have to discharge their financial obligations for 2009, estimated to be in the neighborhood of $300,000.

Industry insiders are now speculating as to whether the partnership between AMTDA and SME signals the eventual end of the WESTEC show.

Satisfied Exhibitors Talk About Ammo Expo '07

"A great show for a first time show with a lot of traffic – a lot of good traffic! A lot of buyers have come through, and we’ve set up appointments for after the show, and we’re just real happy with it." - Toellner

"The show’s great. Every-body’s that’s attending is really enjoying the town and all the amenities and we’re looking forward to coming back in 2009". - Iscar

"We’re excited about coming back here in two years in 2009. After being in the business for thirty years, I’d have to say that this is the ideal trade show. It’s a destination city; it’s easy to get to; it’s easy to get rooms; it’s fairly inexpensive to travel here for all of our staff. We’ve gotten some really good leads, and we didn’t get a bunch of tire kickers or students; it’s really a professional show."
